Personality & Traits

General Overview Andreas has only known life in Starfleet as his parents were both career Starfleet Officers and brought their discipline home with them. Since they were killed in action, he has dedicated both his life and his subsequent career to their memory as his way of honouring them. He is hard working, dedicated and loyal to a fault to everyone who is either assigned to, or visiting wherever he is assigned too. He makes friends easily and treats all of his friends as if they were family.

He maintains a simple life, not putting stock into personal possessions. With that being said, he still has all of the trinkets his parents had accumulated over their lives so that he has little things to keep his parents close to him while off duty. He has also added to these with other items that are similar to keep their collection up to date. His parent's collections have also been complimented by his love for old style books, with all of his bookshelves being a mix of first edition books and trinkets laid out with great care.
Ambitions He is very dedicated to doing everything in his power to make sure families do not know the pain he felt when he lost his parents. Maintaining diligent training both physical and emotional is what he uses as the basic tools on his belt to achieve his goals and he passes this onto those in his department. This goal has helped him bring the department together as an extended family who shares his desire to maintain the peace and safety of all those around them.
Hobbies & Interests Reading/collecting printed books, preferably hard cover books, from the 18th through the 20th Centuries. His preference generally leans towards "westerns" or police drama books, but he will read almost anything with pages. He also enjoys old case files from the same era to see how police cases were handled in the past.

He also continues his parents tradition of collecting trinkets as mementos. While they are just little items from various parts of the galaxy.

Woodworking also keeps his hands nimble and eyes sharp with intricate details on whatever he builds. Most of the items he makes are either bookcases and other display cases for his two separate types of collections.

Personal History Andreas was born in 2355 to two career Starfleet Officers. His early years saw a balance of Starfleet discipline and the unconditional love of his parents.

His love for woodworking started at a young age when his mother brought him to the shop she had worked in when she took a year's sabbatical from Starfleet's Medical Corps. She had taught him the basics and he spent as much time as he could honing his skills.

He also had an innate ability to pick up various martial arts with only a few lessons. With the help and guidance of his father, he held a black belt in Aikido, Taekwondo and Karate by the time he was 14. He enjoyed the focus these styles brought him, it wasn't where his heart was.

Andreas' parents were hoping that their only child would follow in their footsteps and become a Starfleet Officer, but he didn't hear the calling that his parents had. He appreciated what their careers had offered them and the camaraderie that his parents had with other Starfleet members, but it wasn't something he saw himself doing for the rest of his life. At 14 years of age, he didn't know what he wanted to do when he was older, just that he didn't want to join Starfleet.

His whole world changed when a group of insurgents attacked the base his family had stopped off at on their way home from a trip to Risa when he was 15. When shrapnel from a nearby explosion struck the 3 of them, Andreas was the only one who survived. Andreas was in a medically induced coma for 3 days and didn't know about his parent's fate until he woke up. He spent the next 6 months in and out of the sickbay's retraining centre, regaining the dexterity he had prior to the explosion. During this time he decided that he wanted to honour his parent's memories by joining Starfleet, focusing in Security and Tactical.

On his 18th birthday, he was accepted into Starfleet Academy. While his main goal was Security, he wanted to further honor his mother by adding a second major in Medicine. His teachers all guided him throughout his time at the Academy and were happy to see him excel at everything he put his mind too. Andreas' only goal was to graduate with these two majors and a minor in engineering, leaving no time for a social life. His classmates understood this, but still asked him to join them regularly. While he missed out on the social aspect of the Academy, he still enjoyed his time there. When he graduated in 2377, Andreas had his Security degree, was fully trained and licensed as an EMT and minors in both the Diplomatic and Engineering Corps.

His first assignment on the USS Massachusetts was a whirlwind of activity. They were on the front line for a number of skirmishes where various officer's were incapacitated. Captain Jones knew of Andreas' varied training and took full advantage of him during diplomatic missions, giving him invaluable experience both as a Security Officer and in diplomacy. Because of the Captain's faith in him, Andreas became just as comfortable wearing his dress uniform for diplomatic meetings as he was wearing his combat gear.

By the end of his 3 year tour on the Massachusetts, he had been promoted to Lieutenant JG and to the position of Assistant Chief Security Officer. At this time, he felt he had accomplished every thing he had set out to accomplish on the Mass and when the offer of the Chief Security/Tactical officer on the USS Faragut became available, Andreas jumped at the chance to transfer.

The Faragut proved to be a lot less active than the Mass had been, but Andreas enjoyed the slower pace and took the time to hone his woodworking skills and rebuild the bookcases and display cases he had to leave behind on the Mass.

In 2383, Andreas heard about a newly commissioned ship that was looking for a crew. He pulled up their roster and found they were looking for a Chief Security/Tactical officer and applied for the position. It took longer than normal to go through the red tape for this assignment as there was additional clearance checks that needed to be completed. Once the tape was cut, he was ecstatic to learn the transfer was approved.

His time spent on the Guardsman was full of challenges, but Andreas met each one with determination and loved every minute of it. When his orders to report to Starfleet Command to work in the security department there, his feelings were bittersweet. He would have liked to stay, but knew the opportunities at Starfleet Command could lead to moving up in the chain of command.
