Getting Ready to Go

Posted on Thu Apr 5th, 2018 @ 2:41am by Captain Andreas O'Shaunessy

"I can't believe I'm on my way to my own command." Andreas started with feelings of both anticipation and trepidation.

"My career in the security and tactical departments have taught me a lot about defense, but a gold uniform rarely gets you into the center chair.

"I owe a lot to my instructors at the academy as well as to my mentor, Captain Jones, for giving me the basis I needed to get me through to where I am now. If it weren't for them, I don't know if I'd have had the self confidence to finally apply for the CO course.

"In all fairness, while the instructor's and Captain Jones gave me a solid base to work from, all of my assignments have helped me grow both personally and professionally. Each assignment had it's good and not so good points, but they all taught me what works for me and what doesn't.

"Everything I've mentioned so far helped me immensely throughout the CO course. While it was challenging, I'm fairly sure it would have been even more so without the opportunities I've enjoyed.

"From what I've been able to pick up from reports I've read over the last couple of days, the Delta Quadrant should prove to be an interesting Area of Operations. There are a few major players that have shown themselves so far. Hopefully we'll be able to make contact with more before too long. The other ships in the Quadrant seem to be dealing with or have dealt with 4 of them. I'll go wherever I'm ordered, but I'm hoping that we can do some exploring to expand upon our records of the quadrant and possibly make contact with someone other than those who have been met already. I'll have to wait to see where we're going and what we're doing, I guess.

"Well, I should probably finish getting my gear together and get to the transport. That's all I need at this point is to miss the transport and have to explain to TF37's TFCO as to why I am late to take command of the Alabama."
