Mission: Shakedown Cruise
Location: Ready Room

Anders had strolled across the length and width of the Bridge, his eyes wandering round the various stations and the crew that were manning them. He could feel the nervous glances from the Junior Officers and Crewmen fixate on him for a few seconds before returning to their work. As the XO he was the exact opposite of the Captain in a way, he was the hard taskmaster whom they didn't need to like but merely follow out their orders. He motioned for Lieutenant Saeed to take over as he walked to the Ready Room.

He waited for his response before entering. With a stroll of professionalism he was stood before his superior. "Current progress report for you Sir." Odegaard said handing him the PADD.

"Thank you, Commander." Andreas said as he accepted the PADD. He took a minute to read the information before responding. "The lateral sensor array seems to be off slightly. Let's get it adjusted before we get too far. I don't want to miss anything. I don't see anything here from Astrometrics. How are they coming with the information they're recieving?"

Odegaard nodded. "Still analysing the data as we speak." The Commander stood relaxed at at ease. "Head of Astrometrics is going to relay the data in real time to all Science Stations."

"Good to hear. Science seems to be under control. How is Security/Tactical coming?" Andreas asked.

"Lieutenant Saeed and I have been running them since we had all hands accounted for." Odegaard said flexing his hands behind his back. "We have all Phasers including rifles and hand units ready for use, I have assigned two Security Crewman to each Deck in case of any unexpected guests." A smirk then reached the mouth of the Commander. "I thought given the region our Shakedown was taking us, it best to be prepared.".

Andreas smiled. "Good thinking." Looking through the rest of the reports, he nodded his appreciation. "Things are going well so far. Thank you for all your work, Commander, I really appreciate it."

With a nod of Appreciation the Commander then looked at Andreas. "There is one more thing Sir." He then took a seat. "I have an acquaintance in Iota Intelligence who sent me some things not totally known to the Fleet, one of them I thought you might find interesting."

Andreas' brow furrowed as the XO took a seat. "That sounds slightly ominous, Commander. What did Iota Intel say?"

"Well they've been hearing rumours from a number of Merhcants and Traders from Malon Space all the way to Kobali territory about a group called The Wanderers." Odegaard commented to his superior. "The USS Voyager never encountered them during their travels so all we have is speculation and stories."

“Well, that doesn’t sound horrible, still not great, though. Did Intel give any recommendations about contact? Should we attempt contact if we see them, or give them a wide berth?”

"Captains discretion." Odegaard responded to him. "Nobody has any idea where they are from only that they travel in a mass fleet of makeshift vessels, salvaging and trading for better things every time."

Andreas sat back and looked at the ceiling for a few seconds before replying. Looking back to Odegaard, "Alright, we'll see how things play out. I'd like to make contact with the Wanderers if possible. They could prove to be an excellent trading partner for the Federation out here as it sounds like they have a knack at finding what they want. The last thing I want is to add them to our unfriendly list, but I also won't back down from a fight if the situation calls for it."

"My thoughts exactly Sir." Odegaard said with a nod. "I'll download all the information I have and forward it your terminal."

"Sounds good, Commander, I appreciate that." Andreas replied. "There's been something I've been meaning to bring up. We've been maintaining a level of formality that, while appropriate in the early days of a new command, there comes a point when it can be lessened. While on the on bridge, or around other crewpeople, formality should be maintained, however, I think we've reached a point that we can be on a first name basis in here and when there aren't anyone else around. How do you feel about that?"

Odegaard pondered it for a second and then nodded. "Very well Sir I don't see it being an issue on my part." He understood the perspective of his superior though, and it made sense to have a relaxed level,of formality.

Andreas nodded. "Sounds good, Anders. Is there anything else that aren't in these reports that I should be aware of?"

Odegaard shook his head. "No Sir, I think everything has been covered." .

"Sounds good, thank you for the update, Anders." Andreas said with a smile.
