Running Late!

Posted on Sat Jul 28th, 2018 @ 10:19pm by Lieutenant JG Daisy Skie-Cloud

Mission: Shakedown Cruise
Location: Iota Starbase - USS Alabama
Timeline: Back Post - just before the ship jumps into warp

:: Dry Dock AC-453. ::

USS Serenity was someone's joke for one of the deadliest ship in the arsenal of the fleet of ship for it had a prestigious history both in battle and in purpose it was designed for. The crews were forged and tempered in battle and duty upholding the most sacred of duties - Protecting those that didn't have means to.

Daisy looked through one of the big viewports at the battle scarred Defiant sitting in dry dock with its swarm of workers busy restoring the ship to service. But it was Crewless and the crew scattered.

She had lost her innocence aboard the ship. She placed her hand on the big view port transparent aluminum viewport. Whispering, "good bye old friend."

She turned from the view, picking up her case that contained a transporter buffer that held her mortal belongings. Slinging the strap over her shoulder and moving on, looking towards an uncertain future.

"Lieutenant Junior Grade Skie-Cloud! Report to Station Central HQ!" Announcement shattered the silent Observation Deck of the Dry Dock AC-453.

She sighed and shifted uncomfortably in the restrictive clothing of the Starfleet uniform which wasn't much. Black boots to a high glossy shine, black uniform authorized skirt that fell several inches short of regulations and a contrasting pure white mesh t-shirt. Combadge glittering over her heart with her pips glittering just above it.

Moving to the nearest transporter, she presented her identification to the transporters. "Central HQ," giving the chief a smile as she moved and settled over the transporter pad. She watched her surrounding become engulfed in blue twinkly lights and glowing fog.

:: Iota Star-base ::

Then when the fog and twinkly lights faded, she was in a different transporter room aboard a much more busier station as the noise filtered into the transporter room. Stepping off the transporter pad and giving the transporter crew a quick nod and a cheerful smile as she left the transporter room into the busy corridor.

Her combadge chirped and spoke. =^= "Report to Station Personnel asap. =^=

Daisy hated the combage as it had interrupted many a pleasurable moments. Her cheerful look faded slightly, losing some of the warmth as she responded. =^= "Enroute. Be there in twenty minutes" =^=

Finding the nearest turbolift and entered it. "Personnel Offices" She commanded as she leaned against the railing, listening to those that followed her, giving their destinations also.

Delays and more delays as the lift slowly made it way through the starbase. Males gave her a looked her over with vast interest, but by the way she had the distant look that didn't invite conversation, left her pretty much alone than the occasional nod of acknowledgement.

With seconds to spare, Daisy fled the turbolift and scampered down the corridor with her case slightly bumping her back. Ignoring those that outrank her, yet keeping a respectful demeanor, moving with purpose. Entering the proper office, she came up to the desk that barred the way farther into the room.

"Hi. I'm Lieutenant Skie-Cloud." She spoke, laying her Fleet ID onto the desk face up to let the Ensign who manned the desk see it.

"Ah. About time you arrived!" Ensign looked over her with distain at her lack of uniform. He busied himself looking back at the screen he was perusing when she showed up, displaying his meager power to make those that come here wait till he was ready.

"I'll come back when you have more time, Ensign." Daisy spoke cheerful, securing her identification. Turning to leave.

"Wait! I'll get to you in a few minutes Lieutenant." Ensign glanced up at her, watching in morbid fascination as she turned and left the room. "Wait! Your orders?!" He yelled at her retreating back. Feeling the eyes of the rest of the clerks in the room upon his back. He knew he was in big trouble.

The Ensign grabbed the PADD that contained Skie-Cloud's orders and jumped the counter and gave chase, rushing out into the corridor after Lieutenant JG Skie-Cloud.

"Looking for me, Ensign?" Skie-Cloud leaned against the wall, just outside the Offices of Personnel.

The Ensign come to a complete stop, turning to face her. "I'm to give you these set of orders. The ship awaiting you at Berthing 6." Ensign held out the PADD containing her orders.

She watched him with a soft smile that could mean anything. Letting him sweat for his transgression as others busily passed by, giving the two a glance. "Thank you," snatching the PADD from him and fleeing down the corridor, leaving him in puzzlement.

Out of curousity, she paused in an alcove to look at what was stored on the PADD to see if contained her orders. She activated the DataPADD after supplying her thumpprint. She read through the orders and instructions. She made funny faces as she continued to read. "USS Alabama?"

Getting strange looks as she shot out of the alcove and dashed madly through the busy Starbase to catch the USS Alabama. Only to arrive to see the tail end of the ship moving out of view of the big view port.

She let out a few swear words softly as she scowled for real. She now had a mission to kick someone's butt. An Ensign's up on BUPERs.

She was never late in catching her assigned ships before. But then if she hadn't stopped and admired USS Serenity one last time, maybe she would've been on time to catch her new assignment.

Daisy smiled and ran off to the nearest transporter room. "Hey? Can you help catch the ship that just departed, the USS Alabama?"

"I'll see what I can do, Lieutenant." The Transporter Crewman spoke to her as he made the connections and contact with the ship. He nodded to the transporter pad.

Daisy was already moving onto the transporter pad for the beam over. She settled on the transporter pad and signaled she was ready.

She was enveloped in a bluish fog with twinkling lights. Then it disappeared reviling she was in a transporter room aboard the Alabama.

"Yes!" Daisy softly exclaimed to the Transporter crew on duty. She felt the ship accelerate into warp. "Whoa!," eyes widen when she slid a few inches, much to the delight of crew.

Daisy regained her composure as she stepped off the transporter pad with a delightful smile. "Permission... oh hell with that. I'm already here!" She gave a soft giggle as she left the transporter room.
