Meeting the Marine CO
Posted on Tue Apr 10th, 2018 @ 1:00pm by Captain Andreas O'Shaunessy & 1st Lieutenant Ali'x'in "Alexander" Ch’Thorthaan IV
Mission:
New Ship, New Crew
Location: Marine Facilities
Andreas just finished meeting with 2 of his senior staff in his ready room and needed to stretch his legs. He hadn't seen the Marine Facilities yet, so he decided to check them out.
"Deck 15, please?" Andreas said once the turbolift's doors closed behind him.
Stepping out, he wandered into the facilities. "Not too shabby." Andreas said as he looked around.
Alexander and his First Sergeant stood in the Marine Armoury, helping the members of the Alabama Security and his Marines make the transfer of equipment and properly storing everything. "Should have Ninety-Six rifles, out of containers and in the racks. Another set, in three emergency drop containers of thirty-two each." the First Sergeant stated as he looked at his PADD.
Alexander did the checks himself before the Armoury Sergeant arrived to do his check. This allowed for anything to have gone missing be reported directly and handled by him.
Andreas continued his wandering through and ended up in the armory. He saw a couple of marines there. He nodded at the First Sergeant before turning to the First Lieutenant. “Lt. Ch’Thorthaan? I’m LTCMDR O’Shaunessy.”
Alexander stood up and at attention. "Yes Sir. First Lieutenant Ch'Thorthaan." he replied, "Your new Marine Commander, sorry for not checking in first but wanted to make sure our equipment was all checked in and registered to bring it up to you."
“At ease, LT. All’s good, I appreciate your initiative. I know we don’t have a large space for your crew, but I’m sure we’ll make it work. We’ll be at the station for a few more days to finish bringing supplies onboard. If you need anything, the QM, XO and I are all available to help as needed.”
Alexander moved to his at ease position, "Roger that, Sir. I think for the most part we brought everything from the Alpha Quadrant we would need. As long as we have a place to sleep and store gear during our downtime. I think we'll manage, I did have a question. Secondary position, due to the nature of not always being needed I would like to start assigning shift rotation with the department heads so my guys can learn the ins and outs of the Nebula class." he asked handing over a PADD.
Andreas nodded in agreement. "I like that idea, Lieutenant, as long as it does not interfere with their training. Once the other department chiefs report in, approach them with your shift rotation suggestion so they can incorporate it into their own assignments."
"Understood, Sir. Is there any information on the sector of space we will be exploring yet?" he asked looking over to his First Sergeant then back to the Commander. "I have the basics set up for our standard training regiment, just wondering if there is anything or anyone we should be more prepared for."
"I wish I had a full answer for you." Andreas said, taking a few seconds to collect his thoughts. "Other than some information on the Hirogen, thanks to a couple of ships who have been here a while and the information that we've gathered over time about the Borg, we're working on a lot of information that's 15 or more years old. We'll be adding to this information as we go. Our primary mission will be to broaden our knowledge base as well as to establish a greater Federation presence in the Quadrant. With that being said, we will defend ourselves to the best of our abilities when and if needed."
"Well, we will just prepare for everything and hope for the best." he said with a slight smirk. "I am pretty much done here if you had any questions for me to go over. I know its customary for the Ship's Captain to interview and learn about his staff before departing on the shakedown cruise." he said gesturing towards the door.
Andreas smiled. "Normally, I would have a few questions, but it's been a long day and my brain's a little fried. I think what I'll do is pop by over the next couple of days and train with you and your crew. When I'm here, I will be a member of your crew and not your CO. I've found that that helps me get a feel for what type of officer I'm working with and how we will mesh together."
"Sounds Good, Commander. I look forward to running you through the ringer with us." he said nodding. "Enjoy your rest and look forward to seeing what interesting situations we can get into."
"Me too, Lt., me too. I'll see you tomorrow." Andreas said as he headed towards the exit.
